Skills Base Licensing Model

Overview

Your access to Skills Base is granted via a license. A Skills Base license has the following properties:

Plan type: Each Skills Base license has a "Plan" type.  Examples of Plan types are "Teams", "Enterprise" and "Ultimate".  Plans grant access to modules and features within Skills Base.  You can find our more about Skills Base Pland here: https://www.skills-base.com/pricing
Capacity: Each Skills Base license grants a specific capacity, being the number of people records that can be accomodated in the system. Depending on the context, this may be referred to as "capcity", "seats", “authorized users”, "users", or “people”. All of these terms are synonymous when it comes to Skills Base licensing. For example, the Free license has a capacity of 25 people.
Expiry date: Licenses have an expiry date. When a license expires it is no longer valid, and the plan and capacity that was entitiled under that license ends.  The only exception is the Free license, which does not expire so long as users log in with the auto-deletion threshold.

How license capacity is consumed

A license seat is consumed when either:

  • A person record is created/added in the system; or
  • An invitation is sent.

When an invitation is redeemed, it converts to a person (which consumes a seat) and the seat associated with the invitation is freed, keeping overall usage aligned with your license.

License seats are re-usable. You can free seats by deleting people and/or invitations you no longer need.

Why person creation counts as a seat

In typical rollouts, creating a person record coincides with preparing assessment tracking and/or issuing enabling login privileges, so it’s treated as a licensed user from the outset.

Support for large, phased rollouts

For customers planning large-scale, staged deployments (often thousands of people), Skills Base may, at our discretion, provide up-front license capacity for people not yet granted login and not yet tracked for skills. This enables pre-loading people and integrating systems (e.g., HRMS) ahead of full activation. When cohorts are later activated (login enabled and/or skills tracked), standard billing applies.
